Neighborhoods

Bend was incorporated as a city in 1905 and is divided into four distinct quadrants, each with its own charm.

Neighborhoods: List

Northeast Bend

Northeast Bend has a unique flavor with its juniper tree and sagebrush vistas. The area contains some of the most important Central Oregon regional destinations including St. Charles HospitalCostco, and important businesses such as Les Schwab Headquarters located in Juniper Ridge. Pilot Butte State Park is also in northeast Bend where Bend residents enjoy hiking the butte as well as watching the annual 4th of July fireworks.

Neighborhoods:

  • Boyd Acres

  • Orchard District

  • Mountain View

Northwest Bend

Northwest Bend covers much of historical downtown Bend as well as the desirable Awbrey Butte neighborhoods and Northwest Crossing. Downtown real estate includes the “Mill Cottages”, used originally to house the families and workers of the Brooks Scanlan mill, but now many of which have been renovated and command a very high price per square foot.  The many subdivisions on Awbrey Butte offer homes with varied views and aspects and range from more affordable townhomes to stunning luxury homes on large lots. But perhaps the most popular real estate in NW Bend continues to be that in Northwest Crossing, with its tree lined streets and neighborhood shops, restaurants, parks, and schools.

Neighborhoods:

  • Awbrey Glen

  • Northwest Crossing

  • North Rim

  • Historical District

Southeast Bend

Southeast Bend topography varies from open juniper and sagebrush in the northern sections, to heavily pine treed along the southern border where it abuts forest lands. The area was historically owned by a few families, and while some of this land has been subdivided, many acres remain in a natural state. Small farms and acreage properties are slowing being transitioned into housing as Bend continues to grow and the need for new homes continues to be strong.

  • Larkspur

  • Old Farm District

Southwest Bend

Southwest Bend is the gateway to the Cascade High Lakes and the Mt. Bachelor Ski Area. This area of Bend is known for high end luxury communities including Broken Top and Tetherow, resort properties including Mt. Bachelor Village and Inn of the 7th, and fabulous homes, many with Deschutes River or Cascade Mountain Views. The area boasts great shopping, restaurants and theaters in The Old Mill, an area revitalized from its former logging operations, and is also very popular in the summer months for the opportunity to "float the river" or bike along the Deschutes River. And, for the really adventuresome, the new White Water Rafting Park has recently opened under the Colorado Bridge. With so many other happenings in SW Bend, one cannot forget the new OSU campus location or the headquarters of the internationally famous Deschutes Brewery.
