Tucked neatly between the snow-covered peaks of the Cascade Mountains and the inspiring high desert plateaus of Central Oregon, Bend has evolved from a sleepy lumber town to an international mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. In Bend each season has something to offer, from skiing to mountain biking, fishing, hiking, camping, rock climbing, white-water rafting, kayaking, paddle-boarding, paragliding, golf and more.

Old mill district

Inspired by and built upon the rustic architecture of the former Brooks-Scanlon lumber mill, The Old Mill District is nestled alongside the Deschutes River, right in the heart of bend. It is home to an eclectic mix of restaurants, tasting rooms, shops and the the state’s largest outdoor concert venue the Les Schwab Amphitheater. The districts idyllic setting is host to numerous events, including the Bend Brewfest, Oregon WinterFest and Art in the High Desert.

Mt. Bachelor

Mt. Bachelor or "The Mountain", as dubbed by locals, is the 6th largest ski resort in North America – with over 4,000 skiable acres, 3,365 feet of vertical drop, and 101 runs to explore. In addition to its Nordic Center for cross-country skiing and snowshoe tours The Mountain offers snow tubing, dog sledding, lift rides to Pine Marten Lodge for sunset dinners, disc golf course, a mountain bike park and a variety of summer activities.

Neighborhoods

Bend was incorporated as a city in 1905 and is divided into four distinct quadrants;  Northeast Bend, Northwest Bend, Southeast Bend, Southwest Bend, each with its own unique character and charm to fit almost every lifestyle.

Schools

Bend-La Pine School District  has 19 elementary schools, 7 middle schools and 7 high schools. Each school is “districted” which means where you live in Bend dictates which school your child will attend.
